Things to check when you are joining a forum:
Check the forum members statistics. Should go for a forum which is really active. Nobody likes inactive forums as answers got delayed.
Check whether the forum is regularly updated.
Choose a forum related to the business and the targeted region.
Best Practices of Forum commenting:
Read the forum guidelines first
Do not ever try to spam the forum at the first instance to get links and traffic – this doesn’t happen. People hate spammers.
Most of the forums do not allow the signature link at first. They require a basic level of participation. Do that first.
Participate and try to help people as much as possible with quality information and with your knowledge (this is applicable for most of the social media channels as well)
Even if you have a chance to spread the project link, try to avoid spreading naked links. Instead just mention the name as a service provider along with some other good references (gov sites, edu sites, and other authority sites)
Avoid engaging in debates. Place your thoughts tactfully and not by hurting others. This will increase your popularity and thus reputation.
Try to assist the fellow members with large piece of content if possible with relevant data and information.
Remember one person cannot be an expert in all possible fields. So groom yourself accordingly.
